4 miles, 33:08, 8.28 minutes per mile.  I need a new running goal.  I'm finding it very hard to get out to the door to run...but of course always feel wonderful after running.

I was looking at races in Texas and all the main ones seem to be on Sundays... :(

Baby boy is now a week old.  After the exhausting week we've had, I really needed this run.  It felt good.

okay, I'm a bad blogger :) Just caught up on your blog and it made me laugh when I saw how fast you went after your 'long' week. Now you understand why I run so much!! Gotta get out and de-stress sometimes.

Remind me again...you'll be in Houston? Texas is so big I get lost down there and forget where people are. I'm sure there are races on Saturdays, and don't worry about running the 'big' ones - the smaller ones are better anyway!

Nice job getting out and getting the running in despite a crazy life right now!! Gotta love some good trail running.

RAD, I don't blame you for not following my running progress religiously... it's not like I'm doing anything exciting.  Just trying to stay afloat right now.  And I'm feeling the effects of it: today I was so gassed about halfway through this run!  4 miles!  I remember when that was a warmup!  Ugh...

34:48, 8.7 minutes per mile.

blame it on the baby and lack of sleep :)

Stick with it, it will come back and sweet little baby boy will start sleeping!

53:34, 8.93 minutes per mile.  Warm run...high 60's!  Now that I've done the bulk of my running in the fall/winter, I can't believe that I started running in 90 degree Dallas weather!  Looking at potentially cramming for the Charlottesville half marathon on April 7 (hence my pickup in distances).  I'm going to attempt an 11-miler this weekend...that might be my barometer for whether I'm in or out on the 4/7/12.

I don't know if I really ran 5 miles; it was approximately 5 miles, though.  I didn't realize that my stopwatch wasn't going, so I couldn't even judge based on the time I ran.

Since I ran the marathon in November, I had finals and then my wife and I became parents in January.  Needless to say, I have not kept up with my running.  I decided a couple months ago that I was going to shoot for the Charlottesville half marathon, but I decided not to do it a couple of times and recommitted to running it a couple of times.  As school and family demanded my time, I wasn't sticking to the schedule I had set.  (Plus I opted to play basketball rather than hit the pavement a couple of times, since I wanted to associate with some of my non-running friends a few more times before the end of school.)  The longest I have recently run was 8 miles on March 9.

Well, about a week ago, I decided that rather than train for this race, I was just going to run it.  And, I did!  It was very hilly, but very beautiful.  I love Charlottesville, and I'm going to miss it.  I'm glad I was able to get a race under my belt before I leave here.

I was shooting for less than 2 hours, and I made it with time to spare!

Chip time: 1:53:14, 8.64 minutes per mile. PR!  (But it was my first half... :P)

I definitely didn't have the same high and sense of accomplishment that I had in November.  In fact, I ran through the finish line and walked directly to my car to get back home to shower before a class I have a few Saturdays this semester.  With this race, it was more an affirmation to myself that I can still run long distances, that I'm not losing everything I worked up to last November...my body has been telling me all day, however, that I am out of running shape.  I've been dealing with sore legs, back aches, head aches, and exhaustion all day.  (As for the exhaustion, it didn't help that the start time for the race was 6:30 am.)  I know it will take a couple days to recuperate, but at least this race sits as a place marker on my running progression.  For the rest of this year, my schedule isn't going to get any easier and I'll continue to have adjustments of moving and starting my career, but I hope that I'll be able to run a race or two more this year.  We will see how it pans out!

wow...busting out a 1:53 for your first half with no training? Dang, if you DID train and it was a nice easy downhill course you'd probably kick my trash! Nice work out there Jedrick!!!

Don't worry too much about the aches and pains, it's not that you're out of shape - you're just getting old like the rest of us :)

Congrats on a well executed race as a farewell to a beautiful city that has been a big part of your life! You'll never forget where your first was born :)
